here comes an "I don't know a solution, but I have a better Idea" answer, sorry for that
I played arround with the parameters a little, but I couldn't manage to make it significantly stronger or weaker. It just slowed down or did not return form thinking occasionally.
If you want a real bad engine on the ppc, check out orneta's mobile go, it is awfully bad (ironically you will have to pay for it).
Anyway, I cannot recommend playing against weak go programms at all, even (or especially) to beginners. You will get used to their bad style and immediatley start tricking them (which of course is of no use against human oponents or better programs) and nothing is harder to get rid of than bad habbits.
If you don't have anybody around to teach you, try playing online e.g. on KGS (kgs.kiseido.com). There are lots of players online at any time, also beginners, firsttimers or players who are willing to give you a teaching game. You will improve much faster this way!
If you cannot play online, try playing against moderate go programms (probalby better on a PC than on the ppc) with higher handicap. Gnugo is nice and free, turbogo is weaker and also free. My 4yo daughter plays it with a 4 stone handicap on 9x9 and sometimes even beats it!
You can also try igowin, it is a free 9x9 version of "many faces of go" (a strong go programm), which will adopt it's KI and the handicap to your strength during playing.
And finally, if you don't want to sit at your pc, check out remotegnugo to get the client on your ppc
